In Regards To...
Foxfire, also sometimes called "fairy fire", is the bioluminescence created by some species of fungi present in decaying wood.
What started as a side project has evolved into a labor of love, a dream being realized, an eye opening experience and all the feel good clichés you can think of.
There are a lot of experiences one goes through in life. The good, the bad, the really bad. And in times of the really bad, it seems like a miracle when you can find the light at the end of the tunnel. But when you do, it can make everything... less bad.
Foxfire Creative Studio was my light.
(Wow, that's the truth, but I totally and seriously want to eye roll at myself... haha)
I studied and graduated with a degree in graphic design. As much creativity you get to exercise in a class, graphic design in essence is still a service industry. Having worked in the graphic design field for over 12 years, I started to look beyond just the day to day.
After experiencing a difficult and trying year personally, I felt the need to search for more in life. Just going back to simply creating with my hands has been a fulfilling experience. And through experimenting, making and bringing my own visions to life, it has brought about the creation of Foxfire Creative Studio. It has given me meaning, focus and goals, things which I had lost before.
But the journey is not over and I know there are still many challenges ahead. I will keep my light close (yes, more clichés).
The bluish-green glow is attributed to a luciferase, an oxidative enzyme, which emits light as it reacts with a luciferin. It is widely believed that the light attracts insects to spread spores, or acts as a warning to hungry animals, like the bright colors exhibited by some poisonous or unpalatable animal species.[1] Although generally very dim, in some cases foxfire is bright enough to read by.
